3 / 5
Translated from swedish: If you can overlook that particular stylistic lack of originality, it's still a decent thriller. The plot isn't entirely predictable. The setting - a university in a small, isolated alpine town - is unlike anything that's been portrayed on film before.

3 / 5
Translated from swedish: The Alpine scenery is stunningly beautiful, and the camera work is brilliant, especially during a gorgeous staircase chase. The murders are delightfully disgusting and Jean Reno is as entertaining to watch as always. The story we're presented with is nonetheless very interesting and fascinating. But why is everything so confusing?

1. Filmkultur
Translated from swedish: "Crimson rivers" is a suggestive thriller that's been deliberately made confusing. The director found the exposition scenes so boring that he cut them out. Instead, he wanted the audience to create their own interpretation of the sequence of events – that's not to say the film has any real intellectual depth. But it gives the story a wonderful edge and uniqueness.
