"Smile" definitely contains a fair amount of clichés, few surprises, and the occasional direct silliness, and the climax is often the least frightening part - but "Smile" succeeds in achieving what it aims to do on the way there.

Overall, this has been a fantastic year for horror movies. Even though this may not be the best in my opinion, it still exceeded expectations and was good overall, despite some clichés and maybe one or two too many jump-scares.
