Translated from swedish: Fantastic acting, stunning visuals, spot-on portrayal of setting and time period, evocative music. Ang Lee tells this family chronicle with understated elegance about two men forced to suppress their own feelings in a world full of prejudice and unwritten rules about how real men are supposed to be. A truly great cinematic experience!

Translated from swedish: The fact that it unfolds over an extended period gives it an epic melancholic shimmer that never comes close to being cheaply sentimental. On the contrary, "Secreto en la montaña" is in many ways an unconventional love story, not just because it depicts homosexuality but because it never deviates from realistic premises and thus doesn't coddle the viewer with a beautification of reality.

1. Moviezine
Translated from swedish: With its rich content, dynamic visual language, magnificent storytelling, and inspired performances down to the smallest supporting role, this is a film that succeeds in showing that what people really want isn't what film producers think they want. Wild and natural, this love allows itself to be constrained as little as the powerful sky under which it finds its nourishment.
